A New Series Beginning Soon
I'm cooking up something, here's what is on the horizon
A NEW SERIES
To be perfectly honest I’m in vacation mode and feeling a little on the sleepy front when it comes to the writing. But that doesn’t mean plans and ideas aren’t percolating in the background. It’s important as a writer to give time and space to yourself; to honor the in between moments. (Not relegated to writers only.) Process and processing is a real thing. I cannot imagine my last two onstage projects blossoming into what they became (and in the case of Home, what it is to become) without the gift of time and the adherence to the necessity of it.
That said, I’m working on rolling out a new series that is connected to music, story, spirit (of course), and how they’ve intertwined with the upcoming story that will be onstage in February 2027.
Thank you for sticking with me all this time and for continuing to support my stories. I am always open to your thoughts and comments.
Next time - part two of my last post. Then the new series will begin.
A PREVIEW OF WHAT’S COMING - The Spirit of Song and Messages Sent Through Them From Beyond
When my grandmother was dying of Alzheimers - the few days before and the few weeks after she passed, in my “upon waking” hours, I was deluged with Song. By this I mean that every morning, within that liminal space just before consciousness takes over but after you’ve exited the full dream state, I was given a song. (Not unusual for me historically. But this was on a whole new level.) When I say deluge, I mean it. The songs, the lyrics, were relentless; chosen.
My mother was communicating to me. By the grace of God, she was telling me the things that she couldn’t state - in her state. How do I know this? That will be covered in the next series. I’m excited to share it. I haven’t returned to these songs for about seven and a half years. Just after she left this mortal coil.
We’ll be discovering her messages fresh together, the spirit of Song, and the curiosities behind the choices.
WHAT ARE YOU READING THIS SUMMER?
I’ve decided that this is a summer for some new and old fiction. I have returned to the Narnia Collection by C.S. Lewis, a wonderful choice for summer, (I’m almost done with The Silver Chair). I started reading them as a child and didn’t get beyond The Voyage of The Dawn Treader. I think reading them as an adult is a real gift.
I’m also on book two of the Mark of the Lion Series by Francine Rivers. (Don’t expect a huge report on this. It took me 2 years to get through book one.) It’s not a reflection on the writer. It’s also not a reflection on me as a reader. Or perhaps it is a bit of both. But I’m going to plug on. I also picked up a book in one of our Little Free Libraries in our neighborhood. You know the little book houses on lawns? It’s a memoir (Okay not fiction) called This is Not My Beautiful Life by Victoria Fedden. It was not an accident I found it. It’s a thrill to read so far. Not having finished it yet, I already recommend.
That’s all for now. I’ll be back with part two of last week’s article and then the new Song Series, giving you something new to read by the pool or the shore soon.
“Suppose we have only dreamed, or made up, all those things—trees and grass and sun and moon and stars and Aslan himself. Suppose we have. Then all I can say is that, in that case, the made-up things seem a good deal more important that the real ones.” - The Silver Chair by C. S. Lewis
Thank you for reading! Won’t you consider supporting my work as a writer, playwright and performer of original works? You can upgrade your subscription or donate to my coffee fund. It’s greatly encouraging to the creative artist. I thank you!
