#4 Making Changes For a Great 2024 - Some Will See Your Back

What's been going right... wrong... and who's going with you?

Good Sunday. I have to be honest with you. I see people like Tony Robbins, (or pick your favorite “influencer” or life coach), especially at this time of year… how they have their systems down pat. It’s what they do. I don’t really have a system. I am a storyteller. I happen to like telling stories that have a spiritual “bent” to them. For whatever reason right now I’m just asking some questions… “filling in the blanks” (start here with number one).

I like to play. So consider this a little New Year fill-in-the-blanks game…that packs a punch.

I’m thinking a lot about who I allow to influence me … while, perhaps, my stories influence you. I pray against comparison -  such an evil. Even someone close to me said they’d rather read my stories than have me “tell” some spiritual lesson. Influence is everywhere. But some more readers have told me this particular series is helpful, so I’ll keep going.

(But I won’t abandon the storytelling. I couldn’t.)

YOUR CIRCLE OF INFLUENCERS

All this to say, take a new look at your Circle of Influencers. Who (or what) are you allowing to influence you that leads you nearer to God and His Love. What or who is leading you away from God and His Love? Is it time to adjust the members in the circle?

I am in a season of transition and change. It is proving to be harder than I expected. I am an historical nomad; a Mary Poppins. When the wind is in the east my french heels come together and my toes turn out as I lift off ready for the new adventure.

Is this one harder or am I just getting to old for it? There will always be surprises and the biggest surprise for me is that as changes come (with or without the wind at my back or under my feet) I have learned: some will accompany you on the journey.

Some will see your back.

And it hurts in all the places. If you are now or have ever experienced this, know that you’re not alone. More on this soon.

SEEING IT FOR WHAT IT IS

On to our fourth part in our fill-in-the-blanks…piggybacking on last week…

• ________ has historically worked for me but, to be completely honest, it just isn’t anymore and I have to admit it. So now _________.

• ________ is going really well, beautifully, and right so I will continue or even increase ________.

• Last year (last month, yesterday) was filled with _________ so…

I will take what worked and leave the rest behind.

• Today, I am going to begin to __________ which I’ve wanted to do for a long time or is just occurring to me for the first time - because I am free.

For today is all we have. So now is the time.
